About us
Anglo Belgian Corporation (ABC Engines), located in Ghent since 1912, is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of medium-speed combustion engines, with a power range from 600 kW to 10.5 MW per engine.
Our innovative power generation solutions are found in heavy-duty applications across the maritime, railway, energy, and nuclear industries worldwide.
With over 110 years of international experience in engine manufacturing, ABC offers exceptional expertise and competence. Research, development, and innovation play a central role in our operations, where we place great emphasis on sustainability, reliability, and the simplicity of our engine designs.
We specialise in the development of medium-speed combustion engines that run on both conventional and alternative fuels, with a particular focus on minimising the carbon footprint. Our goal is to design the most efficient engines that deliver more power, consume less fuel, and significantly reduce or even completely eliminate emissions.

6DZC
ABC's four-stroke 6-cylinder line engine earned its good reputation thanks to its reliability and durability. Its simplicity made this engine one of ABC’s most wanted medium-speed engines for marine propulsion and power generation applications across the world. A high engine displacement, a low brake mean effective pressure (BMEP), a mechanical injection system and an increasing torque curve at decreasing engine speed are just some of the main technical advantages of our 6DZC engines in tugboats, fishing vessels, coasters, dredgers, ferries and other heavy duty applications. The axial-radial turbochargers’ response is second to none, allowing the engine to absorb huge shock loads in heavy sea conditions. Our 6DZC engine offers real value for money. The engine is characterized by low fuel and lube oil consumption, resulting in an exceptionally low life-cycle cost. Besides Marine Gasoil (MGO) and Marine Diesel Oil (MDO), the 6DZC can run on Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO), vegetable oil, ... making it a very flexible, powerful and reliable source of energy. Additionally, the engine is available in dual fuel execution. The engine can be easily fitted with a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system for those marine applications requiring IMO Tier III and EPA 4 compliance. In addition, the SCR package can be extended with a diesel particulate filter (DPF), allowing the engine to meet the most stringent emission standards. The 6DZC is user-friendly and delivers outstanding performance under the toughest and most demanding conditions. It has been designed for easy and simple maintenance. Maintaining the required or specified performance was never as easy as with this engine. We focus each day on producing quality products that deliver the best performance every hour and every day of the year. Our engineers are at your disposal to offer tailormade propulsion and power generation solutions.

8DZ
ABC's four-stroke 8 cylinder line engine earned its good reputation thanks to its reliability and durability. Its simplicity made this engine one of ABC’s most wanted medium-speed engines for marine propulsion and power generation applications across the world. A high engine displacement, a low brake mean effective pressure (BMEP), a mechanical injection system and an increasing torque curve at decreasing engine speed are just some of the main technical advantages of our 8DZC engines in tugboats, fishing vessels, coasters, dredgers, ferries and other heavy duty applications. The axial-radial turbochargers’ response is second to none, allowing the engine to absorb huge shock loads in heavy sea conditions. Our 8DZC engine offers real value for money. The engine is characterized by low fuel and lube oil consumption, resulting in an exceptionally low life-cycle cost. The engine can be easily fitted with a DPF and SCR system for inland waterway vessels requiring EU Stage V compliance. All 8DZC engines can be fitted with modern sensors and operating systems so that they can be controlled with a touchscreen from the bridge but they remain 100 % mechanical, making it easier to maintain and more reliable. We call this "SMART": Simple, Mechanical, Affordable, Reliable and Tailormade according to your requirements. The 8DZC is user-friendly and delivers outstanding performance under the toughest and most demanding conditions. It has been designed for easy and simple maintenance. Maintaining the required or specified performance was never as easy as with this engine. We focus each day on producing quality products that deliver the best performance every hour and every day of the year. BeHydro Dual Fuel Engines
The BeHydro dual-fuel engines are developed for heavy-duty applications and are very flexible in usage. Operating on 85% hydrogen gas and 15% conventional fuel, they make the owner or user less dependent on fossil fuels. With this type of engine, CO2 emissions are reduced by up to 85%! In combination with an after-treatment system (EATS), they are compliant to EU Stage V emission regulations. Taking into account that these medium-speed engines can run on up to 85% hydrogen AND 100% conventional fuel, they offer a solution when hydrogen is not available. Switching to conventional fuel is automatic and effortless. This ensures easy operation of the propulsion system and a maximized uptime of the vessel. With the BeHydro dual-fuel engines, we offer a state-of-the-art, user-friendly solution for companies that want to reduce their carbon footprint to an absolute minimum. These sustainable engines are ready-to-use, widely deployable and allow our customers to respond to the energy transition today. The engines have a long life thanks to an optimised air/gas mixture that causes components to heat up less quickly. They also have no problems with slight impurities in the hydrogen and do not use scarce raw materials such as lithium, zinc, cobalt, platinum, rare earths, etc. The BeHydro dual-fuel hydrogen engines use proven technology, have been extensively tested and they are certified. They are designed to ensure long-term and efficient operation. These engines are available with 6 or 8 cylinders in line and 12 or 16 cylinders in V and deliver power from 1,000 up to 2,670 kW.
