HARTING BV
About us
HARTING is a leading supplier of industrial connectivity technology for data, signals and power. We design and manufacture cutting-edge products and solutions across many industries and specialise in electrical, electronic and optical connection, transmission and networking.
HARTING develop innovations which provide simple yet reliable solutions, including robust and space-saving solutions for fast Ethernet, device connectivity and industrial cabling.
Demands on interfaces in the maritime industry are very diverse. HARTING offers robust and compact industrial connectors to meet important environmental challenges such as vibration, salt and electro-magnetic compatibility (EMC). The Han HPR housing series is made from die-cast aluminium with a corrosion resistant coating which achieves IP 68 / IP 69K.
The HARTING portfolio also includes products certified according to DNV/GL, including Ha-VIS-eCon switches.
In addition, HARTING develops and manufactures charging equipment with AC Mode-2 and Mode-3 single and three-phase solutions plus DC high power rapid charging, which are available in various AC/DC power ratings, and industrial connectors for battery storage applications.

Han® S 450 Plus: A reliable and powerful connector for energy storage systems
Energy storage systems (ESS) require interfaces which are compact and generate as little heat as possible, even when transmitting high currents. HARTING has developed the Han® S series for this application area. The cable side consists of angled housings, with the input side freely rotating around 360 degrees when plugged in. This makes the cables which connect the ESS modules more flexible. Storage modules can also be combined into larger units. Previously, 200 A was the maximum power rating. The power capacity of the new Han® S 450 Plus has been increased to 500 A to meet the demand for higher charging and discharging currents for battery storage. The enlarged contacts and housings are designed so that they do not overheat during operation. HARTING has developed larger housings for contacts with three different conductor cross-sections: - for 95 mm² (AWG 3/0 or 4/0) up to 350 A - for 120 mm² (250 kcmil) up to 400 A - and for 150 mm² (300 kcmil) up to 450 A Robustness and ease of use are also benefits of the Han® interface: it is guaranteed to withstand up to 500 mating cycles, which no other comparable product can offer. The colours red for positive and black for negative, as well as additional colour options of blue and orange, make Han® S connections easily identifiable. In addition, the housings feature a double locking system and numerous coding options, including the use of five different mating profiles. If a cell in an energy storage module shows a drop in performance, the respective management system can switch it off so it can be replaced. To do so, the Han® S interfaces of the adjacent modules are simply turned aside in the locked state to make room for the switch-out. Han® S complies with all relevant standards for energy storage systems, including UL 1977, UL 4128 and 2PfG 2740/01.25 (TÜV Rheinland).

Han-Ex®. Connectors for explosion-hazardous environments
Han® Ex connectors are designed to meet the intrinsic safety requirements for ignition protection in explosion-hazard areas zones 1 and 2. With the Han® Ex series, HARTING offers a comprehensive connection system consisting of hoods, housings, inserts and cable glands. Hoods and housings are made from an alloy that can safely be used in a methane-coal atmosphere. In addition, hoods and housings offer protection IP65 (in the mated position). Furthermore, the hood’s/housing’s blue colour indicates that an intrinsically safe circuit is present. The inserts compatible with Han® Ex allow for high-density contact arrangements, meeting the standards of the category intrinsically safe even in the tightest of spaces.

Han® HPR. Durable interfaces for high current energy applications
With the Han® HPR HPTC, HARTING offers durable interfaces for high currents in energy applications. As simple and safe as possible. The connectors of the series are characterised by a high energy density: they are designed for operating voltages up to 3.6 kV/1400A (AC/DC) and can withstand environmental influences such as salt spray, dirt and high humidity (IP 68/69). The interface components are designed to be extremely robust so that power transmission between generators, converters and transformers remains stable in the long term.
