About us
Rubber Design specialises in anti-vibration technology. Founded in 1979, the Dutch company combats vibration and noise problems by isolating the source of the disturbance. Rubber Design develops products and innovations for all types of applications in the maritime and industrial sectors. Its engine mountings are used by many engine manufacturers for the flexible support of main and auxiliary engines and generator sets to reduce structure borne noise. Furthermore, Rubber Design supplies a broad range of flexible rubber and stainless steel bellows, suspension systems for exhaust gas piping, and anti-vibration mountings for auxiliary equipment. For all vessel types, including commercial-, naval-, cruise vessels, as well as tenders and workboats, Rubber Design offers a complete package of solutions for all vibration, shock and structure-borne-noise isolation problems.
In the yachting industry Rubber Design builds and installs custom components and systems and is one of the top companies in its industry for the construction and application of propeller shaft installations with oil or water lubricants, rudder stock installations, flexible couplings and thrust blocks.
In addition to the creation, installation and maintenance of its own products, the company has a dedicated client base that trusts in the support provided by the company and its team. This trust is fostered in part by the fact that all of the disciplines are trained and employed under its roof, with skilled and experienced staff on the ground.
Due to its unique alliance with the specialised production and engineering company Biezepol, Rubber Design is able to offer the customer a complete product. Apart from designing, engineering and manufacturing, Rubber Design also tests products dedicated to Test-LAB. Its technical expertise, creativity and problem solving capability together with the high level of service make Rubber Design well known and trusted throughout the industry.

Exhaust Equipment
Exhaust Equipment In every situation where diesel engines are used, noise and vibrations will be generated. Rubber Design has the experience and solutions to control these vibration and noise emissions from the exhaust system. Other than through the engine foundation, engine disturbance will also travel along the exhaust system to be transmitted into the vessel wherever the system is in contact with the ship’s structure. By flexibly mounting not only the engine but also the exhaust system, we can control most of these unwanted noise emissions. Due to our wide range of products we specialize in total-solutions, including flexible suspension, stainless steel bellows, deck penetrations and heat reducing bulkhead penetrations.
MecLev - Mechanical Levelling
MecLev - Mechanical Levelling The MecLev® is an adjustable and re-usable steel mounting chock, that can be used for mounting all types of rotating or critically aligned machinery. The MecLev® is a mechanical stiff chock that is very easy to install and makes machinery alignment more simple, accurate and quick! The self-levelling feature (spherical top part adjust itself to the correct angle when installing the element) in combination with height adjustment, helps eliminate the risk of soft foot problems underneath your machinery!
TT / TT1X Mount
TT and TT1X Mount The TT (Thrust Torque) mounts are especially developed for the high powered / low weight, close coupled engine / gearbox combinations. The unique mount design characteristics enables the mount to transmit both Thrust and Torque forces while ensuring an excellent vibration isolation. With the new mounting series the aluminium TT1X Rubber Design broadens the bandwidth of load-capacity and sets a new standard for the resilient suspensions of high speed engines with close coupled gearboxes. Based on the vast experience with the Rubber Design original TT mountings, this type in the X-series range provides the ideal solution for increased acoustical demands from customers.

Rubber Bellows Flexibility in pipework is indispensable in today’s technically advanced plant and machinery installations. Rubber Design produces bellows and compensators of the highest quality standard that guarantee maximum safety and performance. Based on our years of experience we developed a wide range of products for cooling water, fuel and lubrication oil pipework systems. Not only tested in our labs but mainly in practice. It is in the demanding conditions at sea that our products over the years have proven their quality and durability. But as there is always room for improvement we keep on developing new products. MP / MP Stainless Steel - Multi Purpose Anti-vibration Mount
MP / MP Stainless Steel - Multi Purpose Anti-vibration Mount The multi purpose anti-vibration mounts (MP mountings) are designed for active isolation of vibrations. They can be used for various applications such as generator sets, pumps, compressors, cabins, containers etc The key benefits of the multi purpose mounts are: easy to calculate and achieve an optimum result, no need for skilled engineers to install them and to conclude the MP mounts are maintenance free. Due to the compact standard range they can be delivered from the shelf NEW !! : MP Stainless Steel We offer these mountings in stainless steel 316L (material number 1.4404) for corrossive environments or for food and pharmaceutical purposes. The geometry of the stainless steel top offers protection to the natural rubber against oil and ozon. On request, if the environment contains high levels of ozone, the rubber can be treated with a flexible coating to protect the rubber and also other rubber mixes . Also available polished.
Fire Protection Textile
FPT SEAL A60 The FPT Seal is a fireproof deck and bulkhead passage. Developed by our design team to allow exhaust gasses pipe works pass trough bulkheads and decks without transmitting vibration noise or heat to the surrounding ship-structure. This unique product is a combination of the best quality fabrics and insulation materials. This guarantees maximum safety and performance. The FPT pipe passage seals are suitable for A0, A15, A30 and A60 bulk-heads, depending on the selected configuration. The FPT pipe passage is fireproof for 60 minutes at 1000° Celsius and can be supplied Lloyds class certified for a pipe diameter up to a unique maximum of 1820 mm. The fireproof single pipe passage compensators can be provided with a certified watertight sealing system. The watertight sealing allows a pressure of 0,6 bar (6m)for 30 minutes without any recorded leakage
Conical Mountings
CONICAL MOUNTINGS The range of conical mountings was designed especially with medium speed engines in mind. The conical design provides high deflection and load capacity combined with long service life. Although originally designed for main engine, auxiliary engine and generator installations, the mountings are particularly versatile and can equally be used for exhaust gas boilers and silencers. For applications like the suspension of deckhouses, accommodation rooms and control cabins, this mounting is an excellent isolator against structure borne vibration and noise, passive isolation. The characteristics of the mounting are provided by a conical rubber element designed to carry the vertical load in a combination of compression and shear. The rubber elements for the mountings are produced in several types. Type RD 112, 113, 114, 214, 314 and 414 are produced with extra interleaf rings and type RD 115, 215, 315 and 415 without extra interleaf ring. The types RD 244 and 344 are produced with extra interleaf ring and opposite recesses to obtain different stiffnesses in three directions.

Rubber Design BV Automates Quality Control with New Robot Cell Rubber Design BV has further automated its quality control with the introduction of an advanced robotic cell. This innovative system increases capacity for fully automated 100% inspection of vibration dampers and contributes to even more efficient and accurate quality assurance. At Rubber Design BV, vibration dampers undergo a complete inspection process in which unloaded height and static properties are measured on a test rig. Only products meeting the specified requirements are assigned a unique test number, after which the test data is automatically stored in a database. Upon delivery, this data is linked to the customer’s project information, ensuring that test records are always available for follow-up or replacement if needed. In recent years, Rubber Design has experienced significant growth, both in production volume and facility size. In response to this development, a new automation solution has recently been implemented, consisting of two robots for loading and unloading, and an advanced test rig capable of measuring loads up to 400 kN (40,000 kg). Thanks to this innovation, products can now be fully automated throughout the process—from loading and testing to being marked with a unique number and placed onto a pallet, which is then temporarily stored in a racking system. After a complete measurement cycle, an employee can initiate automatic processing of the pallets containing tested products and their corresponding labels, after which they are ready for storage in the warehouse. With this new automation, Rubber Design BV continues to meet the high quality standards required in the industry and takes another step forward in innovation and process optimisation.
