FIRST CAPTAIN

As a first Captain, you hold the position of primary responsibility for overseeing the overall operation of the ship. Your main duty is to ensure the safe navigation of the vessel from point A to point B. You are an experienced navigator who assumes leadership on board the ship. Captains must also be familiar with the various components of the vessel and be able to operate them successfully. They are responsible for maintaining the ship and its equipment in good condition and resolving any issues that may arise. Additionally, you have authority over the ship's crew and are responsible for their overall performance. During the voyage, Captains are also accountable for operational-related activities. Captains must be capable of effective communication, making swift decisions, and navigating with ease.

Furthermore, as a 1st Captain within our company, you will be;
– Able to oversee all shipboard activities including navigation, maintenance and compliance.
– Able to multitask easily, including performing administrative tasks.
– Good at (further) developing teams.
– Able to properly moor and unmoor the vessel, navigate through tight spaces, such as locks, bridges and rivers.
– Feel and act responsible for the vessel to ensure efficient and safe operation of the vessel and equipment and their compliance with regulations.
– Able to instruct new crew members in safety procedures.
– Able to maintain a professional, well-groomed appearance according to company standards.
– Job specifications / Skills
– This position is a mix of operational and policy duties. This position requires flexibility, stress resistance, professional competence and social skills. 1st captains must have excellent communication, administrative and problem-solving skills. They must have the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and respond to emergencies. 1st masters should also know maritime laws and regulations.
