What you will do
As a marine & offshore service technician, you will work daily on installations and safety equipment for ships and platforms in the inland, maritime and offshore industry. This includes gas extinguishing systems and fire detection systems, breathing air equipment, fire extinguishers and rescue equipment. Portable and stationary (gas) detection equipment is also part of the service package. During your training programme, you will learn to work with all Dräger and non-Dräger equipment. Depending on your experience, this pathway will be adapted to your training needs.

Daily, you will leave Hoogvliet for inland navigation or seagoing vessels to perform service work on board. Some of the inspections of the equipment will also be carried out at our workshops in Hoogvliet. You will also be responsible for transporting this safety equipment to the workshop in Hoogvliet and back on board. In addition to the technical operations, you will ensure accurate administration of your work so that proper inspection certificates can eventually be generated. From the dynamics of shipping, you will understand that all work must be carried out in a short period of time. Ships come and go and are in port for a relatively short period of time. Before departure, customers want their equipment back on board!

You alternate the above daily work with offshore work and short visits to other service projects around the world, such as large cruise ships. You fly to a drilling platform by helicopter to carry out the maintenance and service work agreed in advance. For this, Dräger’s own mobile workshop, including the necessary equipment is available on site. Offshore, you work twelve-hour shifts and sleep with two people in a room on the drilling platform. As a service technician, you will work offshore worldwide eight to ten times a year, one to two weeks at a time.
