There are 20 Naval Cadet Corps spread across the Netherlands. Almost all of them could use some good people. With and without experience. It helps if you have a maritime background. You must enjoy working with young people and transferring knowledge. Each force is an independent foundation with its own autonomous board. These boards could also use some reinforcements.
Being a volunteer with a Naval Cadet Corps means that you are sometimes called upon quite a bit. There are weekly corps days on Saturdays, there is maintenance on the ship and the fleet of small boats, there are multi-day sailing trips and so on. Even so, even if you sail – for example in inland shipping – you can volunteer with a sea cadet corps. It is also 2022 at Zeekadetkorps Nederland and that means that you can also participate as a “part-timer”. Many of the current volunteers, especially in the context of a corps, are themselves employed in the maritime sector.
Of course there is the possibility that you will participate in the corps of your choice for a few weeks. You then have the time to experience whether it is something for you.
