GREEN SCREW EDGE

• FUEL SAVING
o In 2013, the GREEN SCREW EDGE was invented by Jooren Shipscrews
o This has been tested for a whole year by making these edges on every propeller
o With good results, whereby it was clear that the ships saved an average of 5% fuel
o 3 to 5 percent fuel on an annual basis yields considerable savings
o Thousands of inland vessels, including large shipping companies, have been sailing with this edge since that time
o The entry side of the blades is sharply sharpened at a certain angle, resulting in less resistance. As a result, you can sail less at the same speed with 30/40 RPM on the propeller shaft. Or harder if you do sail at your maximum speed
o Through discussions with larger companies such as colleague Boskalis from the sustainability / savings department, it has become a fact that this invention will also be scientifically tested in 2020 at 2 independent companies. In Spain with a CFD test, where 3D scans were made and in Dordrecht at Flowcenter of Excellence with a DMTF test
o Both tests concluded what practice has already proven, that you save 3% to 5% fuel
o AND… there is a noise reduction of numbers of decibels, which regularly results in a reduction of 5 decibels for a new-build ship if the GREEN SCREW EDGE is fitted (this means that new-build ships pass the inspection)
o Now also affiliated with the Green Award as an Incentive Provider
