The middle rudder, a standard naca profile rudder, optimizes the wakefield coming from the propeller towards the outer rudders. Rope Olympia Twelve (UHMPE), material (Registered trademark – UHMPE fiber) is a fantastic alternative to steel cables. Works very easily; manageable, flexible and has a long stretch (2-2.5% in a rope). Can be deployed quickly and easily in critical situations by one person. Polyethylene fibers (HMPE) are the strongest fibers in the world. It has the strongest tensile strength per weight. The fibers have good abrasion resistance and tension with a long tension life. HMPE is resistant to axial pressure and has a low coefficient of friction. On the river Rhine, the TrackPilot delivered fuel savings of up to 4.4% on a six-hour trip, and over 15% in sharp bends upstream at full load — thanks to up to four steering corrections per second: less rudder movement, less resistance, lower consumption.
