IJzerwerker Scheepsbouw

Would you prefer more variety as a metalworker? At De Gerlien Van Tiem, we are looking for a metalworker who enjoys building, thinking proactively, and taking pride in work that makes a visible difference. Someone who doesn't wait for someone to tell them what needs to be done. Who understands measurements. Who can read, feel, and work steel. And who understands that no ship, no project, and no day is the same. Because here, you don't work on repetitive tasks. Today you are helping to build a repair project. Tomorrow you are working on a complex conversion. And next week you are in the middle of a new build project. From minor repairs to complete transformations: we handle it. We have been doing so for almost 60 years. With short lines of communication, a down-to-earth approach, and a team that is there for each other.

What will you be doing? As a metalworker, you will participate in various projects involving the repair, conversion, and new construction of inland waterway vessels.
You:
• measure, mark out, and prepare work activities
• saw, grind, torch, and process steel structures
• assemble structural components and fit them in precisely
• perform assembly and construction work
• work from drawings and contribute ideas when practical work requires a different solution
• collaborate with welders, fitters, structural workers, and project management
• ensure that work is carried out safely, precisely, and according to schedule.

This is you:
You:
• have experience as an ironworker, structural worker, or in steel construction
• can work independently
• have technical insight and a feel for dimensions
• can work from drawings • think practically and solution-oriented
• see work that needs to be done and take responsibility
• work accurately but also know how to work quickly
• make a positive and flexible contribution to the team
• are willing to work extra hours if the project requires it.
In addition, you have:
• an MBO (intermediate vocational education) working and thinking level, acquired through a technical education (such as LTS, MTS, metalworking, mechanical engineering, or similar) or extensive practical experience in technology
• experience with standard metalworking equipment
