Lasser scheepsbouw

Do you prefer working with steel and laying the finest welds? At De Gerlien Van Tiem, we are looking for a welder who knows their craft, works independently, and takes pride in work that lasts. Someone who recognizes when something is right. Who works precisely but can also work quickly. And who understands that no ship, no structure, and no project is the same. Because here, you don't work on standard production. Today you are working on a repair project. Tomorrow you are helping to weld on a complex conversion. And next week you will be right in the middle of a new build project. From minor repairs to complete transformations: we handle it. We have been doing so for almost 60 years. With short lines of communication, a down-to-earth approach, and a team that supports each other.

What will you be doing?
As a welder, you will participate in various projects within the repair, conversion, and new construction of inland waterway vessels.
You:
• perform welding work on steel structures and ship components
• work with MIG/MAG and electric welding
• perform oxy-fuel cutting work
• assemble structural parts and weld them accurately
• work from drawings and contribute ideas when practical situations require a different solution
• check your own work for dimensions, finish, and quality
• collaborate with ironworkers, structural metalworkers, mechanics, and project management
• ensure that work is executed safely, precisely, and according to schedule

This is you
You:
• have experience as a welder in steel construction, shipbuilding, or heavy engineering
• have experience with MIG/MAG and electric welding
• can work with oxy-fuel cutting equipment and other standard tools
• can work independently
• read technical drawings or are willing to develop further in this area
• work accurately and have an eye for detail • think practically and solution-oriented
• make a positive and flexible contribution to the team
• are willing to work extra hours if the project requires it

In addition, you have:
• MBO working and thinking level, acquired through a technical education (such as LTS, MTS, metalworking, construction engineering, or similar) or extensive practical experience in the technical field

Go for variety and freedom and technology that matters.
At De Gerlien Van Tiem, you work on our projects, directly on board with clients and at the shipyard in Druten. No run-of-the-mill work. No two days are the same. In addition, you will join a stable team of people who often stay for years. People know each other. Lines of communication are short. Decisions are made quickly.
