Heavily used ---> Completed overhaul!

A recently completed overhaul of a 280 kW Hyundai Heavy Industries electric motor, carried out for a vessel managed by our Greek branch 🇬🇷

The motor arrived in heavily used condition after extended operation under demanding marine conditions. A full workshop revision was required to restore reliability and ensure continued operation.

Scope of work

– Complete strip-down and internal inspection of stator and rotor
– Electrical testing including insulation resistance, polarization index and winding condition assessment
– Bearing replacement and inspection of housings, fits and lubrication condition
– Dimensional checks on shaft, bearing seats and critical tolerances
– Cleaning and mechanical reconditioning of all reusable components
– Inspection of rotor for imbalance and mechanical integrity
– Surface preparation by sandblasting to remove corrosion and coating residues
– Application of marine-grade coating system for corrosion protection
– Reassembly with controlled fits and alignment
– Final testing, including no-load run and verification of electrical values

Motors in this power range are part of critical onboard systems, where performance and reliability directly impact operations. A structured overhaul is essential to ensure predictable performance after reinstallation.
