Refueling
Compared to battery solutions, the hydrogen engine has the big advantage of being able to be quickly refueled on site. Using a mobile fuel truck or by deploying an easily interchangeable hydrogen supply tank on site. With a battery system, you quickly end up transporting the battery solution to another location where there is a power supply, to charge the system, relatively slowly. After charging, the battery solution will have to be transported back to location. Depending on the size of the fuel supply tank, the hydrogen engine can run, for example, for 1 to 2 weeks or even longer without the need to refill fuel.
Technology
When developing the hydrogen combustion engine, JCB took into account efficiency, power and torque of the engine, just as it did with the traditional diesel engine. JCB’s engineering team managed to match or even exceed the performance and features of the diesel engine with the new hydrogen engine.
Tested in the field
Since JCB has a wide range of machines, the hydrogen engines have been extensively tested in the field. This ensures that the engines are reliable and safe, as we have come to expect from JCB.
