Flex Tunnel
The Flex Tunnel is a retractable tunnel which can be deployed when necessary. Retracted: When a ship is loaded and sailing in deep draught, the Flex Tunnel is retracted and embedded into the vessel hull. In this situation, the water flows into the propeller unobstructed. In comparison to a conventional tunnel, the flexible retraction of this system significantly reduces the overall resistance of a vessel. Deployed: When a ship sails at shallow draught (e.g. with low water levels) , the propellers are not fully covered in the water, which makes them function less (high resistance and low velocity). This is when the Flex Tunnel needs to bedeployed. This guarantees water inflow to the propeller, making a ship operational for a longer period of time. With the Flex Tunnel a vessel can sail longer on shallow waters and/or can take more cargo. The risk of not being operational during shallow water periods is significantly reduced.

FlexConnect - Grip coupling
FlexConnect NBR - Grip coupling - Equivalent Straub / Norma connect The grip coupling is designed to replace the need for flanges and welding with a quick and easy solution for joining pipes. The grip coupling has two anchor rings that are placed next to, but separate from, the sealing mechanism. Suitable for pipe material: carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, GRP, most plastic. Suitable for most applications in shipbuilding, offshore industries, water and waste processing, industrial process piping etc. All our grip couplings are Lloyds, DNV, Bureau Veritas approved.

For monitoring of SPN, FMI codes and DPF status
With the remote monitoring system, it is possible to read Canbus J1939 messages. A standard set of the most important data elements (which can be expanded as required), is read out, as well as the SPM + FMI and OC codes. You decide which information you want to see and in what form it should be displayed on the dashboard. You can also create your own reports. These reports are presented via a web application on your PC, tablet or smartphone. On all values, you can set your own alarm conditions via a user-friendly wizard. Alarm notifications are sent via SMS and/or e-mail.
Foremasts
The installation of a foremast offers several functional and aesthetic benefits. At Blommaert you can choose from different types of hydraulic foremasts, which can be remotely controlled. They are fully customised to suit your needs and wishes as closely as possible. Aluminium or stainless steel? Telescopic? Folding forward or back? With or without side wings? Cable ducts running along the inside or the outside? With high-grade paint finish? You can configure your own ideal foremast (including masthead and radar). We always ensure that it will be lower than the air draft with the mast down. Discover more on our website!

Frisian-style Hatch Covers
The Frisian-style hatch cover is a commonly used hatch cover for inland navigation vessels. It consists of separate aluminium hatch covers that are made to measure to match the hold width (from 4 to 12.5 metres). These hatch covers usually consist of three sections: two sloping sections that rest on the coaming, with a horizontal walkway in between. The most common type is the one that does not require any bar holes (notches) to be made (for a smooth coaming). Discover more on our website!

From CCR to Stage V
Significantly Reduced Emissions of Nitrogen Oxides, Soot, and Particulate Matter Since 2010, we have been engineering, manufacturing, installing, and servicing high-quality emission aftertreatment systems for all types of diesel engines — primarily in inland shipping. All under one roof. We offer advanced, high-performance solutions to reduce nitrogen oxide, soot, and particulate matter emissions. Our expertise ensures that engines meet the strictest emission standards, such as Stage V, Stage IV, and TIER 4 Final. Even engines that already meet these standards straight from the factory can be made even cleaner with our systems.

Gas Shipping
Your specialist for transporting compressed liquefied gases HGK Gas Shipping specialises in transporting compressed liquefied gases. 19 inland waterway vessels in all, including the four largest gas tankers operating on the river Rhine, provide transport services for our customers. More than 50 years of experience, top reliability and sophisticated safety management make HGK Gas Shipping a valued partner for the chemical industry. The main products include LPG (propane, butane) and propylene (polymer/chemical/refinery grade) and ammonia. The commissioning of the new gas tanker GAS 95 is planned for the third to fourth quarter of 2023. It will be used to transport liquefied gases between the ARA ports and the Rhine region. The “GAS 95” will be characterised by enormous flexibility: With its dimensions of 110 metres in length and 11.45 metres in width, its characteristic of remaining navigable even at low draughts, and the design of the cargo system, the gas tanker is also suitable for use in the canals of Western Europe. By means of the installed power management system, the power provided is optimally adapted to the power demand, thus reducing fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. Once again, the concept, basic idea and engineering of the newbuilding were developed in the Design Centre of HGK Shipping. The “GAS 94”, which will enter service in 2021, served as a valid basis for further development and an absolute reference in terms of low-water optimisation. In addition, the forward-looking design was once again developed on the basis of the clear ideas of the transport management experts at HGK Gas Shipping GmbH in Hamburg. This ensures that the new construction programme of HGK Shipping will equally meet socio-political requirements and the needs of the chemical industry.
