Service book A service booklet is a registered document for crew members of a professional sailing inland vessel. Apart from the skipper, every member of the crew of a Dutch inland vessel must be in possession of a registered service book. For persons who wish to obtain a patent or navigation licence, the service book also serves to prove sailing time and voyages on the Rhine and other waterways. Sailing time book The sailing time book is a mandatory document for every inland vessel or other vessel, with the exception of ferries and ferries, that sails commercially and independently on inland waterways.
