Sailing documents
The SAB provides, checks and ensures further processing of a number of sailing documents, such as service booklets, sailing time books, sailing time statements and oil release booklets.

Service book
A service booklet is a registered document for crew members of a professional sailing inland vessel. Apart from the skipper, every member of the crew of a Dutch inland vessel must be in possession of a registered service book. For persons who wish to obtain a patent or navigation licence, the service book also serves to prove sailing time and voyages on the Rhine and other waterways.

Sailing time book
The sailing time book is a mandatory document for every inland vessel or other vessel, with the exception of ferries and ferries, that sails commercially and independently on inland waterways. In the sailing times book, among other things, the sailing and rest times, the number of crew members and their function must be noted. The captain is responsible for this. The sailing time book includes a statement of issue.

Oil dispensing booklet
The amount and type of ship waste that has been issued by the associated ship is registered in an oil deposit booklet.

Eco card
Since the entry into force of the CDNI treaty on 1 January 2011, professional inland shipping entrepreneurs who are in possession of an oil return booklet and an ecocard can deliver their oil-containing ship waste ‘free’ to the waste reception facilities in all treaty countries. In the Netherlands this can be done at one of the SAB contractors (see ‘collectors’). The ‘free’ delivery of industrial waste (with the exception of cargo waste) applies to ‘normal’ quantities within a business operation. Waste created by leakage, etc. is excluded from this and is for your own account.
